Chuck is the CEO & Founder of Nurture, an epigenomics infrastructure company on a mission to accelerate biological adaptation. He has spent his career turning scientific breakthroughs into commercial products, first at Apeel Sciences as an early employee where he helped scale the company from the lab into a thriving global business, then at Temporal Ag as a Founder and CEO, where he led the company from first proof of concept through field trials. Now at Nurture, he leads product and commercial strategy. Chuck holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Biology from UC Berkeley, and a PhD in Chemistry from UC Santa Barbara.

Savannah is the CTO & Founder of Nurture, on a mission to make the epigenome an actionable layer of biology. She previously co-founded Temporal Ag, building tools to harness plants’ epigenetic memory for climate resilience and helped build the molecular biology function at Apeel Sciences, developing technology for predicting shelf life and reducing food waste. At UC Santa Barbara, she studied photonic nanostructures that produce structural color in marine animals to inform the design of next generation displays and solar cells, sparking a continued fascination with building technologies inspired by the inherent intelligence of biological systems.

Ryan Ward is a Founding Scientist at Nurture and the primary architect of Tellus, our biology-native informatics platform. He has spent his career making sense of messy data in vastly different places. He built predictive models of food spoilage and contamination for the FDA, put his master’s in Economics to work evaluating endangered species policy as a Natural Resource Policy Analyst in New Mexico, and ran CRISPR screens on antibiotic resistant bacteria during his PhD in Genetics at UW–Madison. Tellus is the tool he never had at the bench, making lab work visible and interpretable.

Amber is a founding scientist at Nurture, where she leads experimental validation and perturbation work that grounds the Tellus platform in biological reality. She has pioneered genetic and epigenetic editing technologies across bacteria, yeast, and plants, and previously developed epigenetic reprogramming approaches to enhance heat resilience in tomatoes as a Senior Scientist at Temporal Ag. She earned her BSc and PhD in Plant Biology from UC Davis, where she was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow using CRISPR/Cas9 to improve agronomic traits in lettuce. Alongside her PhD, she also completed a year of MBA coursework and served as a Venture Fellow, conducting technical due diligence and deal sourcing at an early-stage Bay Area VC firm.

Matt is a Principal Scientist at Nurture, where he develops scalable tools and assays for epigenetic profiling. He brings over a decade of R&D experience spanning molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, and assay development, including leadership roles at Apeel Sciences. Matt holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Michigan and is passionate about building experimental platforms that make complex biological questions easier to study and solve.

Tim is a Senior Software Engineer at Nurture, helping build Tellus. He brings a decade of experience architecting data-intensive applications and shaping the teams that ship them. Previously, he launched multiple applications as the sole developer, worked with the Beni team to create a secondhand shopping ecosystem, and designed the software systems at Apeel Sciences to help reduce food waste. Tim studied computer science at Brown University before transferring to UC Santa Barbara, where he graduated with a degree in physics.

Jerome is the Commercial Lead at Nurture. He is a biochemist, molecular biologist, and biotechnology product leader with nearly a decade of experience working with biotech startups across assay development, applications science, and product management. He has helped develop and commercialize next-generation sequencing technologies, with particular expertise in RNA biology, epitranscriptomics, and multiomics workflows. Throughout his career, Jerome has worked at the intersection of science, product strategy, and customer engagement, translating complex technologies into practical tools for researchers. He holds degrees in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Technology Management from UC Santa Barbara.
